Silikonizace

A silicone coating is applied to the tent's outer shell to achieve a highly effective and long-lasting water-repellent effect.

In this technological process, the fibers of the rainfly fabric are impregnated with silicone, making the fabric extremely water-repellent with self-cleaning properties.

This creates the so-called lotus effect, where water droplets are repelled from the rainfly surface. Water doesn't stay in the fabric even if it's not perfectly taut and quickly drains off in droplets, taking dirt with it.

Combined with a PU coating on the inner side of the fabric, this is currently one of the most advanced moisture protection methods. Another significant effect of siliconization is the increased strength, elasticity, and tear resistance of the siliconized rainfly fabric fibers.
