Gelanots XP
Gelanots XP
is a designation for a unique product from Toyota - a non-porous hydrophilic membrane. Thanks to its capabilities, it is used in the production of textile materials for sports clothing (most often laminated on the fabric's reverse side). Membranes in functional sportswear generally ensure that evaporated sweat can pass through the membrane outward, while external moisture cannot penetrate inside—simply put, to prevent the user from feeling clammy and to stay dry in the rain. Traditional clothing membranes like GORE-TEX operate on a simple principle: in this PTFE membrane, there are microscopic pores much larger than individual water molecules (water vapor) but much smaller than the smallest water droplet. Therefore, water vapor passes through, but liquid water does not.
The Gelanots XP membrane fundamentally differs from traditional microporous membranes: it is non-porous (has no pores) yet offers excellent breathability. Its development is advancing rapidly, achieving values comparable to top microporous membranes while avoiding their drawbacks.

Manufacturer-guaranteed parameters for GELANOTS XP: breathability of at least 20,000 g H2O/m2 in 24 hours, waterproofness of at least 20,000 mm water column H2O
