Gelanots Softshell

This is a highly versatile material composed of three layers, which are bonded together using lamination technology. The outer layer is a mechanically resistant, flexible nylon. Thanks to the Gelanots membrane, taped seams, and the laminated inner microfleece layer, Gelanots softshell is 100% water- and windproof, highly breathable, and thermally insulating.

Softshell jackets with fleece insulation on the underside cannot have their seams sealed to be 100% waterproof. This applies generally to all garments made from 3-layer softshell materials, regardless of brand and membrane used. Most softshell garments from other brands do not have sealed seams at all. Jackets made from Gelanots softshell material are sealed with waterproof tape on the underside (or top) of the seams, preventing moisture penetration by about 90%. This practically means that the jacket is 100% waterproof on the surface, but the tape applied to the fleece layer (or outer laminate fabric) cannot completely seal the seam, leading to slight moisture ingress over time.
